About Melbourne Recital Centre

Melbourne Recital Centre sits at the heart of Southbank’s Arts Precinct. Its main auditorium, Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, is a 1,000-seat shoebox-style hall lined in Australian hoop pine and widely regarded as one of the country’s finest rooms for live music.

Getting there

Tram: Route 1 stops at the door (Stop 17, Sturt St/Southbank Blvd). Many St Kilda Road routes stop about 200 metres away.

Train: Flinders Street Station is about a 10-minute walk.

Car: Park at the Arts Centre Melbourne or Australian Ballet Centre car parks. Precinct works can affect access, so allow extra time.

Accessibility

Lifts reach every level, with accessible toilets on all floors. Wheelchair spaces with companion seating are in Stalls Row U and the Upper East and West Wings, and step-free seats are in Stalls Row U, Circle Row A and Upper Wing seats 11–15. A hearing loop covers the Stalls (switch your hearing aid to ‘T’). Assistance animals are welcome, and Companion Card bookings are made through the venue box office.

Access arrangements can change, so please confirm with the venue before you go.

Where to sit

The main hall is Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, a timber-lined hall with raked Stalls, a Circle above and split-level balconies along the sides, which the seating map calls the West and East Wings. The centre also has the smaller Primrose Potter Salon, so check which room is on your ticket.

Layouts change from show to show, so check the seating map when you book.
