About Princess Theatre

Princess Theatre is a landmark Melbourne theatre with seating for up to 1,500 patrons across the Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle. Its original chandelier and many bespoke interior details remain, while a significant 2019 refurbishment prepared the building for contemporary productions without losing its historic character.

Getting there

Tram: Routes 86 and 96 serve the level-access Nicholson Street, Stop 10.

Train: Parliament Station is approximately 150 metres from the theatre.

Car: Marriner Group recommends nearby First Parking locations at 59 Lonsdale Street and 34–60 Little Collins Street. A short drop-off zone is available on Spring Street outside the theatre.

Accessibility

A ramp at the far-left Spring Street doors provides step-free entry to the Stalls, where four wheelchair positions have associated companion seats and an accessible toilet is available. There is no lift to the Dress or Grand Circle. Assistive listening devices are free to borrow. Book wheelchair seats or Companion Card tickets in advance on 1300 11 10 11 (option 2) or through Marriner Group’s access request form.

Access arrangements can change, so please confirm with the venue before you go.

Where to sit

The Princess Theatre seats up to 1,500 people over three levels: the Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle. The Grand Circle is the top level and its back rows are a long way up, so choose the Stalls, the Dress Circle or the front of the Grand Circle if you'd like to be closer to the stage.

Layouts change from show to show, so check the seating map when you book.
