Anti-scalping

Live Performance Australia (LPA) is the peak body for Australia’s live performance industry. TIX is a member of LPA and adheres to the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice. TIX works directly with promoters and producers and directs you to authorised ticketing partners to ensure you are purchasing official tickets.

LPA has released a guide which has been developed to better educate consumers about where to buy authorised tickets and the risks of buying from the secondary market.

Read the Safe Tix Guide

LPA has also released a video to better educate consumers on how to buy tickets safely online.

TIX and its associated websites operate in accordance with the national code of practice for ticketing which we adhere to as members of Live Performance Australia.

It's important to understand your rights under the Australian Consumer Law as well as individual state and territory laws to ensure you make an informed choice.

Our commitment to safe, authorised ticketing

TIX is a member of Live Performance Australia (LPA), the peak body for Australia’s live performance industry. As an LPA member, TIX adheres to the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice and promotes events only through authorised ticketing partners. This means that when you click BUY NOW on TIX, you are sent to an official ticketing provider so you can purchase genuine, authorised tickets—not scalped or unofficial resale tickets.

Why buying from authorised sellers matters

Buying from authorised ticket sellers protects you from many of the risks that come with the secondary market or ticket scalpers. Tickets bought from unauthorised resellers can be:

  • Overpriced, sometimes well above the original face value.

  • Invalid, duplicated or cancelled by the event organiser for breaching resale terms.

  • Missing key information such as seat location, restrictions or conditions of entry.

LPA recommends that your first choice should always be to buy from the authorised seller in the primary ticket market, such as the venue’s official ticketing provider or the promoter’s nominated ticketing partner.

How TIX helps you avoid scalpers

TIX works directly with promoters, producers and venues and links you only to their authorised ticketing partners. By using TIX to find events and then following the BUY NOW links, you are taken to official sales channels where ticket validity and pricing are governed by the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice and Australian Consumer Law.

TIX and its associated websites operate in accordance with the national ticketing code of practice and do not sell tickets via unauthorised resale platforms.

LPA Safe Tix resources

Live Performance Australia has developed dedicated resources to help consumers buy tickets safely online.

  • The Safe Tix Guide provides practical tips on how to identify authorised sellers, avoid fake or overpriced tickets, and understand what to check before you buy.

  • LPA has also produced a short Safe Tix video that explains the key steps to buying tickets safely and avoiding ticket scams.

TIX encourages all customers to read the Safe Tix Guide and watch the video before purchasing tickets for in‑demand events.

Know your rights under Australian law

It is important to understand your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and under state and territory ticket‑reselling laws.

  • The Australian Consumer Law prohibits misleading and deceptive conduct, false or misleading representations and other unfair practices in ticket selling and reselling.

  • Several states, including New South Wales and Western Australia, have specific laws that cap how much above face value tickets can be resold and allow event organisers to cancel tickets that breach resale restrictions.

By buying through authorised channels linked from TIX and following LPA’s Safe Tix guidance, you reduce the risk of problems at the door and help support a fair and transparent live performance industry.
