About Palais Theatre

Palais Theatre is a restored live-performance venue on St Kilda’s Lower Esplanade, next to Luna Park. Known as a home for live music, its auditorium also welcomes comedy, family entertainment and orchestral performances, placing audiences close to the foreshore and the heart of St Kilda.

Getting there

Tram: Routes 16, 96 and weekend route 3a stop at Luna Park/The Esplanade, Stop 138, about a one-minute walk away.

Bus: Routes 246, 600, 922 and 923 stop within a short walk of the theatre.

Car: St Kilda Triangle Car Park on Marine Parade is the venue’s closest listed option, about a one-minute walk away. Most local parking is paid.

Accessibility

The Lower Esplanade entrance and route to the front of the Ground Level auditorium are step-free. Accessible seating is provided in Stalls Rows AA and WW and Lounge Row D; a lift reaches Level 1, with accessible toilets on both levels. Book accessible tickets online through Ticketmaster or call 1300 446 925. Companion Cards are accepted, and assistance animals are welcome.

Access arrangements can change, so please confirm with the venue before you go.

Where to sit

The Palais has two levels. On the ground floor, the Orchestra section fills the front half of the auditorium (rows A to Q) and the Stalls sit behind it. The floor is gently raked towards the stage, and the stage tilts slightly towards you, so seats near the back of the Stalls feel closer than they look on the map.

Upstairs, the Lounge takes up the front of Level 1 (rows A to M) and has slightly wider seats, with the Dress Circle behind it. The Lounge balcony is low, so standing isn't allowed in rows A to D. Accessible seating is in Stalls rows AA and WW and in Lounge row D.

Layouts change from show to show, so check the seating map when you book.
