About Horti Hall

Horti Hall is a heritage-listed hall on Victoria Street in Melbourne's CBD, opposite Victorian Trades Hall. Opened in 1873 for the Victorian Horticultural Society and designed by William Ellerker, it is on the Victorian Heritage Register as a rare, intact 19th-century assembly hall. It is now home to Victorian Opera, which uses the main hall, the Hemstritch Studio, for rehearsals and intimate performances. The building is managed by Working Heritage.

Getting there

Tram: Trams along Swanston Street and La Trobe Street stop a short walk from the venue.

Train: Melbourne Central is the most convenient station.

Car: There is metered street parking and several paid car parks nearby. Check parking restrictions and car park closing times before the show.

Accessibility

All events at Horti Hall are general admission, and space can be made for wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility devices. Because of neighbouring building works, restricted-mobility access to the Hemstritch Studio is by drop-off at the property's rear gate on Mackenzie Street; let Victorian Opera know in advance so staff can be there to help. For access bookings, contact the Victorian Opera Box Office on (03) 9001 6400 (option 1) or boxoffice@victorianopera.com.au.

Access arrangements can change, so please confirm with the venue before you go.
