About Geelong Arts Centre
Geelong Arts Centre is a state-owned performing arts centre at 50 Little Malop Street in central Geelong, established in 1981 as a Victorian Government statutory agency. A redevelopment completed in August 2023 linked the historic Ryrie Street building with a new Little Malop Street building designed with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners. Its venues include the 764-seat Play House, the 550-seat Story House and the 250-seat Open House, presenting theatre, music, comedy, dance and family shows.
Getting there
Train: Regular V/Line services run between Melbourne's Southern Cross Station and Geelong. Check timetables with Public Transport Victoria.
Car: Geelong is about an hour from the Melbourne CBD via the West Gate and Princes freeways. There is on-street parking and other parking in central Geelong (see the City of Greater Geelong parking page); several events often run in the precinct, so allow time to find a park.
Ferry: Port Phillip Ferries runs between Docklands in Melbourne and the Geelong CBD.
Accessibility
Geelong Arts Centre says accessible entry, parking, seating and amenities are available at all its venues, and the 2023 redevelopment created fully accessible foyers. Its venues have wheelchair access, accessible seating and accessible toilets; the Play House has an audio induction loop covering stalls rows F to K, and portable induction loops can be booked through the Box Office on 1300 251 200. Assistance animals are welcome and the Companion Card program applies. Staff cannot transfer or push wheelchairs. The Geelong CBD accessibility map shows nearby accessible parking.
