Sir El Tom: The World's No. 1 Elton John Tribute Act

About

For one night only, Sir El Tom brings Elton John's greatest hits to Sydney's State Theatre on Friday 13 November. A six-piece band plays and sings every note live, with no backing tracks, in recreations of Elton's most flamboyant costumes, right down to the glasses.

Two hours of the songs everyone knows: Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, I'm Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

At the piano is Tom Cridland, and his story is as remarkable as the show. He taught himself to play during lockdown to get sober, choosing Elton's songs because they were the ones he loved. Three years later he was on stage at Carnegie Hall. The show has also played London's West End and all 50 American states.

Elton's own drummer, Nigel Olsson, has played with the band three times. Tom has been to more than a hundred Elton concerts as Nigel's guest, and that is where the arrangements, the harmonies, the costumes and the glasses come from.
