Discount ticket sites in Australia compared: TIX, TodayTix, Halftix and more
By the TIX team · Updated
Australia's options for cheaper live event tickets each suit a different need. TIX (Lasttix deals) lists negotiated discounts on theatre, musicals, concerts, comedy, family shows and experiences across Australia and sends you to the official seller to book. TodayTix focuses on app-based theatre deals with rush and lottery tickets, mainly in Sydney and Melbourne. Halftix sells discounted Melbourne shows. Tixel is a fan-to-fan resale marketplace for sold-out events, and memberships such as Entertainment suit attractions and dining.

When to use each
You want a deal on a show that's on sale
Start with Lasttix deals on TIX – it covers the most categories and cities, and offers are booked with the official seller, so the ticket is genuine. For theatre in Sydney or Melbourne, TodayTix's rush and lottery programs are also worth checking. In Melbourne, check Halftix too.
The show has sold out
Use the official resale service linked from the event's ticket seller, or a fan-to-fan marketplace such as Tixel. Avoid listings that don't show the original price – in NSW it's against the law to resell tickets for more than 10% above the original cost.
You go to the same company often
Subscriptions and youth programs from arts companies (for example under-30 or under-35 prices) often beat one-off discounts. See our guide to cheap opera tickets.
You're planning family outings
For live family shows, check Lasttix deals on TIX; for attractions, motoring club discounts and the Entertainment membership are often better value. See our family deals guide.
How TIX is different
- Not a ticket seller. TIX links only to authorised ticket sellers, which handle the booking, payment and tickets.
- Broad coverage. Theatre, musicals, concerts, comedy, opera, dance, family shows, exhibitions and experiences, in cities across Australia.
- Independent and Australian. TIX is Australian owned and operated and has no connection to TodayTix.
- Since 2009. TIX started as Lasttix, and Lasttix deals remain its limited-time offers. In mid-October 2026, 18 of the 38 shows on sale on TIX had a Lasttix deal.
